Adoptable Pumping Stations

The complete adoptable pumping station solution provider.

When designing and installing a pumping station, it’s important for developers to ensure that they are “adoptable”. This means they have been designed to comply with the specifications outlined by Sewers for Adoption and the Ofwat Design and Construction Guidance, allowing the local water authority to take on the responsibility of all future maintenance and running costs.

With years of experience working with water authorities throughout the UK, we design and construct each pumping station so that it complies with the Ofwat Design and Construction Guidance to water authorities local practices and in accordance with the latest edition of Sewers for Adoption.

Our team has in-depth knowledge of these requirements, allowing them to produce detailed designs that provide all the necessary information developers need to submit as part of Section 104 to their local water authority for approval.

Combining our experience and expertise, we produce cost-effective designs that are efficient, durable, and comply with the required standards to ensure a smooth adoption by the local water authority.

1. Initial Consultation

One of our specialist Sewers for Adoption Technical Engineers will discuss your options available in line with the standards of your local water authority and the Ofwat Design and Construction Guidance.

2. Design

Our expert design team offers the most advanced designs available for adoptable pumping stations, and will provide detailed technical specifications ready to be submitted for approval to the local water authority. These will meet the Ofwat Design and Construction Guidance to water authorities local practices and will be in accordance with the latest edition of Sewers for Adoption.

3. Approval

We will handle all communications with both the adopting water authority and the project consulting engineer to obtain approval.

4. Construction

Once approval is obtained, construction can begin. The pumping station will either be manufactured offsite or completed onsite, depending on the type of pumping station and materials used.

5. Commissioning

Our dual qualified engineers will then install the pumps into the chamber and complete all the necessary electrical work. A full system test will be carried out before we hand over the system to our client.

6. Maintenance

Developers typically need to wait 12 months for the defects liability period to end before the pumping station can be adopted. We offer a maintenance plan for this initial period, which ensures everything works as it should.
